Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital is made up of a team of qualified, experienced and compassionate professionals. We are here to answer your questions, offer up-to-date information about animal health and provide the best in veterinary medicine for your pet.
Dr. Jack Speir is married to Dr. Sherry Knopp and they have owned the practice since its inception in 1984. Raised in Uvalde, Texas, Dr. Speir attended Texas A&M University, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Agronomy in 1965.
Dr. Sherry Knopp is married to Dr. Jack Speir and is one of the practice owners. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in 1978 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1980 from Texas A&M University. Dr. Knopp is a native Texan, but was raised in Venezuela until her family returned to the States in 1972.
Dr. Marissa Klein joined Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital in June 2003. She earned her B. A. from Cornell College in Iowa in 1991 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2003. She is originally from Colorado, but has been in Texas since 1996.
Dr. Lauren Lanier joined Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital in May 2007. She grew up in the greater San Antonio area, after her father retired from the Air Force. A tour of duty with her family in Germany introduced her to her love of horses.
Dr. Melanie Lucero was born and raised in Marietta, GA. Her love for animals became apparent at an early age. She would frequently pet sit for neighbors, and at the age of 16 started working at her first animal hospital. She continued working in the veterinary field during her college years at Furman University in Greenville, SC.
Dr. Rhonda Lane joined Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital in September 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors from the formerly Southwest Texas State University. She went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
